I heard many people saying that Pantene styling products are bad for your hair and make it thin and fall out? Please, share your personal experience. Thanks in advance!
Are Pantene styling products bad for your hair?
Because the majority of all hair products contain a chemical called Ammonium Lauryl or Laurylth Sulfate in them. This chemical agent strips the natural oils from your hair and scalp, and repeated use over long periods of time can damage your hair and make your scalp dry and flaky.
The only company I know that does not use this chemical in all their products is Tresseme'. The problem with hair products today is that they are large in abundance and variety, you could pee in a bottle and put it on the shelf and some idiot who doesn't know any better would come along and buy it cause it buys into the fad or product claims.
There are safer and more better PH balanced products you could use. Stay away from harsh cleaning shampoo's and you will be fine. You should never have to wash your hair more than once a week under normal conditions pertaining to your job and lifestyle. You can subsitute conditioner instead of shampoo, it will not strip your hair as bad as poo and will nourish it better. If you use poo everyday, your not helping your hair at all retain it's natural moisture content.

well the best way to find out is to call the 800 number thats on the bottle and ask what the pH of there product is. if it is between 4.5 and 5.5 then its ok for your hair. most products you buy from the store aren't that bad.

I've never heard good things about Pantene either. My mom and sister are both hairstylists so naturally I fall more toward the professional haircare lines but I do have a story about Pantene. They say it makes your hair so "silky and shiny" well that's because it coats your hair with a wax. One time in beauty school a girl was razoring another girls hair and the Pantene was flaking of the girl's hair! It was little tiny flecks of white.

My hairdresser told me that Pantene contains a silicone that coats your hair and so makes it shiny, but it doesn't actually repair the hair, but also a colour wont take as well if you've used Pantene

no it doesnt lol i promise

I always use Pantene because of the wax in it.
My hair is very fluffy and the wax in Pantene calms it down without making it greasy which some serums and waxes can do.
I have very strong hair and always have had, so I see no problem with it personally.

i don't know. sometimes i think it varies according to your hair type. my husband has fantastic hair, thick and shiny, and it stays that way no matter what he uses, just about, and he does use Pantene or related generic products, and almost always has. i have bad weak hair and nothing seems to help it, i've tried the expensive stuff, i've tried it all, so i wouldn't say that anything is better, it just depends on your hair. i used to like the Aussie stuff, and i also have liked TreSemme.

yes I stopped using it several months ago...

Pantene, along with most if not all of the other "drug store" shampoos, conditioners, and styling products contain ingredients that give you a false sense of healthy hair. They contain "waxy" ingredients that make your hair look shiny and healthy, but the truth is they are only covering up damage, not repairing it, and in most cases they add to the damage you already have. They build up on the hair terribly, and eventually cause the hair to become brittle and I have even had clients whose hair will no longer get wet, water will just bead up and slide right off the hair because of the amount of buildup.
As for them making the hair thin and falling out, that could happen to some people who have damage and start using these products and because of the false sense of health they are seeing, the don't ever fix the problem (getting damaged hair trimmed for example) and they continue to do the things that are damaging the hair. Eventually, the damage is going to start to make itself known. You definitely won't be doing yourself any favors by using these products.
The best thing you can do is go to a salon and have a stylist recommend products for your specific hair needs. Products purchased in a salon are always gauranteed and they will always give you your money back if they don't work for you. Trust a professional and you won't be sorry!
Good Luck!
Are Pantene styling products bad for your hair?
well... it depends
If your hair can handle it then it should be OK
...but in my case, I cant use it because I have a sensitive scalp and using this shampoo dries out my skin which results in very bad itchyness!!
If it not bothering you.... go for it

I think Pantene is a decent product. Never heard about hair falling out...Used them myself for a while and it was ok. But have you heard about Mixed Chicks products. If you want to tame hair they work great for frizz and curls.

I've not heard anything bad about them.
But I have heard bad stuff about Head And Shoulders.
Apparently it can strip paint, don't know whether that's true but it's what I've heard, so it must be good for stripping hair colour.
